SOS
Viet Phi (Save Our Stateless Vietnamese in the
Philippines) is established in Mississauga, Ontario,
Canada on January 26, 2005. Its objective is to advocate
for the remaining group of Vietnamese Boat People, who
have been stranded in the Philippines without a durable
solution since 1989 to be admitted to Canada as refugees
under the ‘Country of Asylum’ class, where many of them
have relatives. We call upon the Canadian Government
Department of Citizenship and Immigration (C.I.C.) to
help close the book on a long and tragic saga of the
Vietnamese Boat People. With the voice of SOS Viet Phi,
together with the Vietnamese communities in Canada and
the world and the support of all four political parties
in the Canadian Government, we are working towards
bringing closure to the sufferings of the last
Vietnamese refugees from the Boat People exodus, and
appeal to our Government to allow 500 individuals (or
approximately 200 families) to come to Canada. SOS Viet
Phi is not affiliated with any organizations and being
non-partisan in our approach is our guiding principle in
finding a humanitarian solution to helping our fellow
human beings.
